No CommentsMagnetic Therapy Backed by Scientific Evidence, Ignored by Conventional Medicine
The recent January 2006 issue of the British Medical Journal suggested patients be advised that magnetic therapy has no proved benefits. They argued that only blinded randomized controlled trials can prove medical benefit, and that it is difficult to study magnets in a blinded fashion.
A randomized controlled trial of arthroscopic knee surgery for osteoarthritis found it to be no more efficacious than placebo, yet this surgery is performed on more than 600,000 people per year. This study appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine in July 2002.The BMJ editor forgets that consumers are shrewd. No CommentsThe best free software for personal use – Part 28
I down load freeware frequently and I’ve seen the best of the best and the worst of the worst.
The best freeware available are those programs that are truly free. The ones that don’t limit their functionality or usage. The main thing that would set them apart is their usefulness. Are you actually able to use this program for a purpose instead of having it take up valuable space on your hard drive?
The best freeware I’ve ever down loaded was avi anti virus personal edition. It wasn’t limited very much in functionality and it worked. Open office is another program that is entirely free and is a Read the rest of this entry »

No CommentsThe first millionaire in the world
Who was the first millionaire in the world?
Let us define “millionaire”: “a millionaire is an individual who lives in a household
whose net worth or wealth exceeds one million units of any currency.” (Wikipedia)
Under this definition many people over the course of documented world history have been
millionaires. The kings of Europe, Africa and the Mid-East certainly fit this realm of money
masters. The Popes of the Vatican, perhaps fit this definition as they have reigned over millions of dollars (and millions of dollars in art, plus millions in real estate holdings).
The Khans of Asia and the Emperors of Japan sat on coffers worth millions during the days Read the rest of this entry »
Album reviews: Now You Are One Of Us, by The Paper Chase
Ah, Now You Are One Of Us by The Paper Chase, perhaps my favorite album of 2006.
It is exactly 51 minutes, and the price will depend on where you buy it from, but should be average. While I’m on the subject of where you buy it from, I have to mention this: You will probably have to order it online. I know, it sucks, but apparently they don’t have their Cd’s in stores, and I don’t know why, but yeah, buy it online, it’s well worth it.
Track list:
1. It’s Out There And It’s Gonna Get You
2. We Know Where You Sleep
3. The Kids Will Grow Up To Be Assholes
4. Wait Until I Get My Hands On You

Employee Burn Out Prevention
Employees who are motivated are the assets, even secret to the success of successful companies. However, these employees aren’t robot nor machines. They can feel pressure, be overwhelmed, or even worse, be burned-out. Recognizing and preventing symptoms of burn-out will save your company and your employees from self-destruction. Organizational psychologist David Javitch, PhD, names the most common signs of burn-out. According to him, the most telltale signs of burn-out include a decline in productivity. Lateness, leaving on the dot, leaving work early, prolonged breaks, and increasing absences are the most common actions of burned-out employees. He also named the simplest means to prevent it such as Read the rest of this entry »

“Florida gets a C- for emergency medical care”
AP, The Sun, Jan. 10, 2006
It is reported in 2006 that Florida’s emergency room care received a grade of “C-” on a physician’s group report card. The grade was based in areas such as: medical liability insurance, number of emergency rooms per 1 million people, and number of acute care facilities in the State of Florida.
It is claimed, in this report that “the state of emergency medicine care is in critical condition” (Front Page 8 State News). The “C-” rating indicates “less than 60% of what the best states are able to do”. The report claims care is not available when and where people need it in the state. While Florida Read the rest of this entry »

Parenting Mayhem
The time frame to instill positive behavior in children is from 0 to 3 years of age. Rob Reiner’s television special, “I Am Your Child,” was aired in 1997with a host of celebrities describing the effects of showing even the smallest amount of love to your child, and the consequences if they are neglected. Every parenting magazine has countless articles to give advice on how to help raise a child to grow into a self sufficient, self reliant adult that can function in society. The pressure on parents is enormous. The parents are blamed for every mishap, crime, and attitude displayed by their children. For example, every eye is on the parent in the Read the rest of this entry »
